Mowing with Titmice

In August my lawn mower

With each pass of the yard

Stirs a cloud of insects

A tufted titmouse couple I know

Perch on the fence, bob heads and watch

Then dive through the cloud

Beaks stuffed with bounty

Grasshopper, cricket, moth wings, spiders

For the babies squawking in the sassafras tree
